A native of Norwood MA, Noah was a top player at the U.S. National Team Development Program during the 2013-14 season. The following season, after accelerating his final year of high school studies, Hanifin played for his hometown Boston College as the 2nd youngest player in the history of the Eagles program. After a successful freshman season at BC, Noah was selected 5th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes and began his NHL career on October 8th, 2015 against the Nashville Predators.

Internationally, Noah has represented the USA on numerous occasions, winning a gold medal at both the 2014 U17 (captain) and 2014 U18 World Championships and again at the 2015 U20 World Junior Championships held in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.
